Reckoning at Flodden (Mary, Queen of Scots)

Reckoning at Flodden (Mary, Queen of Scots)

This four-page overview of the Battle of Flodden was written at very short notice for a bookazine focused on Mary, Queen of Scots to replace an earlier piece which was written from the perspective of Catherine of Aragon and lifted from History of Royals.

Given the tight turnaround and well-trodden ground, it could have been a piece of churn but I was conscious of the need to set up the larger story and feed into the content that might follow, and so ended with a foreshadowing of the consequences of Mary’s later life - highlighting that both literally and figuratively, Mary, Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I of England were “children of Flodden.”

Reckoning at Flodden appeared in the bookazine Mary, Queen of Scots, priced £9.99. Find out more at MyFavouriteMagazines.co.uk
